Preparing to deploy the Informix pattern

You must have access to specific resources and you must complete initial preparation to deploy an Informix® pattern.

To deploy an Informix pattern, you must have access to specific resources:
  • You must have PureApplication® System or IBM® Workload Deployer must be installed and configured.
  • You must have user permissions on your deployer to edit and deploy virtual system patterns.
  • You must be entitled to the licenses associated with IBM Informix Enterprise Hypervisor Edition.
  • Your system must have enough storage space. The software has the following space requirements:
    • Software from the product DVDs requires 2.5 GB of storage space
    • Software from IBM Passport Advantage® requires 5 GB of storage space
You must complete the following steps before you can deploy the Informix pattern.
  1. Load the Informix pattern onto your system.
    • If you are accessing the Informix pattern from the product DVDs, copy the contents of the DVD into a directory.
    • If you are accessing the Informix pattern from IBM Passport Advantage, download the package file and then extract it into a directory.
  2. Import the Informix pattern into your deployer's catalog.
    Important: To import the Informix pattern, you must use your deployer's command-line interface (CLI). If you import the IBM Informix Enterprise Hypervisor Edition virtual image to later create a deployable virtual system pattern, you can use your deployer's graphical user interface (GUI).
    Check your deployer's information center for instructions on using the CLI and GUI to import software into your deployer's catalog.
After you import the Informix pattern to your deployer's catalog, you are ready to begin deployment.
