Creating a space

Create a dbspace, temporary dbspace, blobspace, or sbspace for a database server.

When you create a space by using the HCL OpenAdmin Tool (OAT) for Informix®, you can also make the space expandable. The database server automatically expands the size of the storage space when necessary by adding or extending a chunk. Automatic storage provisioning requires HCL Informix version 11.70.

To create a space:

  1. On the OAT menu, click Space Administration > Storage.
  2. Click Actions > Create Space.
  3. Complete the fields on the Create a Space page.
