Creating a service level agreement
Create a service level agreement for a grid, a cluster, or a replicate set by using a Connection Manager.
A service level agreement (SLA) is a contract between specified client applications and their service providers, in this case, Informix database servers. Based on service level agreements, the Connection Manager connects the client applications to the appropriate servers. The Connection Manager accepts client connection requests and either redirects the requests to the appropriate server or functions as a proxy server between the client applications and the servers.
A Connection Manager provides load balancing and directs client connection requests to the appropriate server in a connection unit based on service level agreements (SLA). When the quality of data is monitored, the Connection Manager can route client connections to the replication servers based on the number of apply failures, the transaction latency, and the workload. When the quality of data is not monitored, the Connection Manager can route client connections based on the workload only. To specify the apply failures and latency in an SLA, enable monitoring the quality of data by modifying a server that is a member of the grid on the page.
To create a service level agreement:
- On the OAT menu, click .
- Click the Connection Manager.
- Click the connection unit in the list.
- On the Actions menu, click Create an SLA.
- Complete the wizard.
