Disable Replication

Use this action to temporarily stop replication on an Enterprise Replication (ER) server if the replicates use the time stamp or delete wins conflict resolution rule, or if you do not have enough disk space to avoid overrunning the replay position.

Prerequisite: For this action, OpenAdmin Tool (OAT) for Informix® requires IBM® Informix 11.70.

When replication is disabled on a server, the server does not queue its transactions, and the other replication servers in the ER domain do not queue replicated transactions for the disabled server. However, information about any deleted rows on the disabled server is saved in the delete tables. When you restart replication and synchronize the data, you can take advantage of a time stamp repair.

For example, if the server uses the delete wins conflict resolution rule and a transaction was deleted on the server before you disabled replication, when you enable replication and synchronize the data, the delete action is replicated to the other servers in the domain.

To restart replication on the server, use the Enable Replication action, or check and repair the replicate set with the enable servers option selected on the Replicates > Replicate Sets page.

Local

Select this option if the server is not connected to the ER domain.

  • If you are connected to the server in OAT, this action disables replication on the server, but it does not notify the other servers in the ER domain. To notify the other servers, connect to another server in the ER domain and repeat the action for the disabled server either through OAT or the command line.
  • If you are not connected to the server in OAT, this action notifies the other servers in the domain that replication is disabled on the server, but it does not disable replication on the server. To disable replication on the server, connect to the server, and repeat the action either through OAT or the command line.
