Connection Manager

Use these pages to view the connection units monitored by a Connection Manager. Create a Connection Manager and add connection units and SLAs to a Connection Manager.

Prerequisite: For the Connection Manager, the OpenAdmin Tool (OAT) for Informix® requires IBM® Informix 11.70.xC3 and the Connection Manager that is packaged with Informix 11.70.xC3 or later, or with IBM Informix Client Software Development Kit (Client SDK) 3.70.xC3 or later.

A Connection Manager provides load balancing and directs client connection requests to the appropriate server in a connection unit based on service level agreements (SLA). A connection unit is a collection of database servers in a grid, a high-availability cluster, a replicate set, or a server set. A single Connection Manager can manage multiple connection units.

You can create one Connection Manager for the database server that OAT is connected to by using OAT. You can start and stop this Connection Manager. You can create, start, and stop other Connection Managers from the command line.

Important: The Connection Manager requires that the Connection Manager name, SLA names, cluster names, and server set names are in all ASCII characters, even for non-English locales.
