Informix GLS compatibility

The HCL Informix® GLS library is compatible with most Informix products.

In order for you to use Informix GLS, both the database server and the application must support the following Informix application products:
  • Informix ESQL/C develops client applications in the C language and can contain embedded SQL statements.

    For more information about how to write ESQL/C applications, see the HCL Informix Enterprise Replication Guide.

  • The Informix DataBlade API supports development of client applications and user-defined routines (UDRs).

    Both kinds of DataBlade programs use DataBlade API functions to communicate with HCL Informix. For more information about how to use the DataBlade API, see the HCL Informix DataBlade API Programmer's Guide.

The ESQL/C or DataBlade API client application that uses Informix GLS can obtain locale information from the Informix database server that supports GLS functionality.

A DataBlade server routine can use Informix GLS to obtain locale information from HCL Informix with UD Option.
