Modifying an SLA for a grid

Modify a service level agreement (SLA) for a grid by using a Connection Manager.

Prerequisites: For the grid, the HCL Informix® Replication Plug-in for OpenAdmin Tool (OAT) requires HCL Informix 11.70. For the Connection Manager, the HCL OpenAdmin Tool (OAT) for Informix requires Informix 11.70.xC3 and the Connection Manager that is packaged with Informix 11.70.xC3 or with HCL Informix Client Software Development Kit (Client SDK) 3.70.xC3.

A service level agreement (SLA) is a contract between specified client applications and their service providers, in this case, Informix database servers. Based on service level agreements, the Connection Manager connects the client applications to the appropriate servers. The Connection Manager accepts client connection requests and either redirects the requests to the appropriate server or functions as a proxy server between the client applications and the servers.

When the quality of data is monitored, the Connection Manager can route client connections to the replication servers based on the number of apply failures, the transaction latency, and the workload. When the quality of data is not monitored, the Connection Manager can route client connections based on the workload only. To specify the apply failures and latency in an SLA, enable monitoring the quality of data by modifying a server that is a member of the grid on the Replication > ER Domain page.

To modify an SLA for a grid:

  1. On the OAT menu, click Replication > Connection Manager.
  2. Click the Connection Manager.
  3. Click the grid in the list.
  4. Click the SLA tab.
  5. Click the SLA in the list.
  6. On the Actions menu, click Modify an SLA.
